Leverkusen CEO dismisses Wirtz agreement with Bayern

Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro has dismissed reports that their playmaker Florian Wirtz has agreed to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
"I know that it is not true and it is annoying to read reports which are not true," Carro told broadcasters RTL/ntv late Tuesday.
Carro said that the club has a good relationship with Wirtz and his parents, with his father also being his agent.
"Of course Florian has to think about his future, but at least we are not aware - and I can assume that this is correct - that anything has been decided for him," Carro said.
The Bild paper said that 22-year-old German international Wirtz had agreed to join Bayern, either this summer, or next year if their reportedly planned offer of €100 million ($111 million) was not enough.
Pharmaceutical company Bayer, which owns the club, has reportedly given the green light for the sale of Wirtz, who has a contract until 2027, but want €150 million.
"Bayern Munich can make an offer at any time and then we have to look into it. But we so far have received no offer, from any club," Carro said.
Sport Bild reported that Manchester City have made on offer for Wirtz, with their coach Pep Guardiola wanting him as a successor for departing Kevin de Bruyne.
Bild said that Wirtz travelled to Manchester with his parents on Tuesday, and that his father would not comment upon their return in the evening.
Carro meanwhile also said the club hopes to sign a new coach soon in succession of Xabi Alonso, who will be leaving after the season and is expected to join Real Madrid.
"Of course we would be happy if we were able to decide and announce it this month," Carro said.
"Because we then have to build a squad during the transfer period, and it is much easier to do that together with a coach. For that reason the decision on the coach is the first of the puzzle, before we go on to make decisions on the squad."
