Despite the 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the football Bundesliga top clash on Saturday, Bayern Munich remain positive ahead of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Inter Milan.
The Bundesliga leaders travel to Milan on Wednesday with a 2-1 deficit from the first leg, and coach Vincent Kompany believes his team can draw strength from the Dortmund game.
"Despite the setbacks, there are no negative thoughts at the back of our minds. We keep going, we remain dangerous – we can draw strength from that," he said.
Midfielder Joshua Kimmich stressed that "it's not like we need a miracle, we only have to win one match. We should go into it with that mindset."
However, Kimmich called on his team-mates to be more efficient and use their goal opportunities in a better way. Against Dortmund, Bayern dominated possession and had 11 shots on target, while the opponents had only three.
Still, the German record champions failed to take all three points and missed the chance to open an eight-point gap over champions Bayer Leverkusen in the league table.
"We're making life too difficult for ourselves because we're not efficient enough. We again had a plethora of good chances, especially in the first half," Kimmich said.
He added that Bayern need to make the most especially of their early chances.
"With early goals you then tend to get into a flow. We saw that in the Champions League. We failed to score early on there as well, which certainly would’ve helped us. As a result, the games remain open and that makes them harder work," he said.
